While strolling around in the surroundings of the Bairro Alto district of Lisbon, tourists can stumble across one of the most spectacular small gardens of the city. We speak of the Principe Real Garden, formerly known as the Franca Borges Garden. This garden stretches on a surface of a little over 1 hectare, and it stands out from the multitude of green spaces in Lisbon by its impressive centuries-old Portuguese cedar which has a crown the diameter of which exceeds 20 meters, casting a pleasant shadow over the benches on which visitors can sit and relax while delighting in playing chess or having a nice conversation.

Also of note is the fact the garden is home to a weekly market of organic products. The market is held each Saturday. A statue calling forth the death of Antero de Quental, created by Mestre Lagoa Henriques, is also located in this park.
