The Center of Modern Art, or CAM (Centro de Arte Moderna) opened it gates in 1983 under the patronage of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and it is located in the close vicinity of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum. The collection gathers together more than 10,000 exhibits, works of sculptural and pictorial art pertaining to 20th and 21st century national and international artists.

The national prides showcased here are the artworks of Joao Cutileiro, Souza-Cardoso, Vieira da Silva, Almada, Paula Rego, Costa Pinheiro, whereas the section dealing with international names lays a clear emphasis on works created by British artists: Henry Moore, David Hockney, Bill Woodrow, and Anthony Gormley. The sculpture which pegs out the garden of the museum is, in fact, the work of Henry Moore.

The Lisbon Card entitles holders to enter the center with a 20% discount.
